September 25: Last Day, Last Blog Post

Last Day

Last day and the last post. Thanks Spain, you've been great.

I sure am missing home and I would have been happy to go back to Cornwall on Day 20 (Monday, September 23) but I used the days to see more sites, walk more places, drink more cafe con leche, and eat more food.

Today's walk was up Montjuic to see the Botanical Garden of Barcelona.

There are just so many cool things, places, buildings to see on the walk...
It is the fall season so I fear I missed the best time of year for garden hopping. All in all, it was worth the walk.

Me, hot and sweaty from the uphill climb.

The walk back down was much easier...

And the lunch at  Casa de Tapas Canota Restaurante was great.... Russian salad, grilled scallops on the shell and two cafe con leches. Yum

I am relaxing on the roof terrace of Hotel Villa Emilia. This is it, folks, last pics. Love ya.🥰😍😎♥️

September 24: Barcino and Plaça d'Espanya

Barcino

Well, Dave and I set out to find the Barcino Route... When you really have no idea what you are looking for, it makes for an interesting search.

I, mistakingly as it turns out, thought that the route was throughout some old streets in the Gothic Quarter, marked with plaques along the way.... Like a Camino trail. Not even close. Dave abandoned me midsearch and returned to the hotel, getting food along the way.

I finally asked the right person and was directed to the correct part of the Museu d'Historia de Barcelona.

This is the entrance to the Barcino Route

It was worth the hunt (and it was free day at the MUHBA)

I returned to the hotel for a rest, shower, and free coffee and snacks (5:00 - 7:00).

We rested until 8:00pm then set out from Placa D'Espanya. We were planning on dinner at La Lolis, but do was everyone else in Barcelona.

We ended up getting fed at a suitable place, then strolled to see the fireworks (and yes there was a little tension over where to eat).
